About Education

Our educational role takes on many forms including face to face educational talks and written material:

  • Providing advice to the prospective horse owner on what is required to look after a horse
  • Providing advice on how to care for the older horse
  • Providing advice on how to euthanize a horse when the need arises [Farwell Booklet]
  • Providing advice on how to care for a neglected horse
  • What to do with an abandon horse - We do not encourage people to purchase horses from saleyards or knackeries, however from time to time horses are given to people or abandoned on properties and they feel they would like to give them a chance
  • Attending Pet Expos, Pony/Riding Clubs and Horse Events promoting issues surrounding equine welfare
  • Providing advice to someone who is concerned about a horse they have seen

Even though we are a Victorian based organisation we are not restricted by borders in assisting people Australia-wide. PHHWV can give advice over the phone or via e-mail.
