Occupation Nurse
I am a member of several clubs including Adult riding, Trail and Western.
I received my first horse when I was about 12 years old. A two year old, unbroken 16 hand buckskin gelding called Nari which I believe meant friend in aboriginal or so I was told.
This didn’t work out so I swapped her for a chestnut Arab cross mare. Needless to say a few tears later and my mother with a broken arm, this didn’t work out either so the mare went.
I then went onto boys, as we all do, and the horses were quickly put to one side. A few years later I was married and had a baby, I came across a skinny T/B in a paddock with my name on him. I believe this is when I started my own little “Project Hope” crusade. I was led to believe this horse was eight years old by his brands. I found out later that he was closer to 28. I did have a lot of fun with this sweet man although only for a short time.
I became involved with PHHWV at the start 2007 when I came across a small pony that needed help. I had been a member over the years and had paid my subscription and had offered to help but never put myself out there. Needless to say I am out there now and am now the Vice President.
I have 2 horses; an 8 year old Quarter horse called Dallas whom I event, dressage, show and jump, occasionally doing the Western thing and a 38 year old stock horse called Poppy.
Poppy is the baby sitter when I take on a short term PHHWV rescue horses. It makes him feel very important and he does a great job.
I am married and have two boys aged 24 and 18, 2 dogs; a kelpie called Daphney and a Jack Russell called Beetle.
I have gained a lot of great friends since I joined PHHWV and still get blown away when I see the hard work time and dedication the other members put into the organisation. They are a great network and support group and will enjoy there company for many years to come.
