Meet Pugsley

Pugsley came into the care of Project Hope Horse Welfare at the end of September 2025 after being impounded by Hume Council. This handsome 5-year-old bay Thoroughbred gelding and his three paddock companions had repeatedly escaped through fencing onto nearby roads, creating a dangerous situation for both the horses and the public.

Sadly, their owner no longer wanted them and had originally purchased the group for just $1 via Gumtree. When Pugsley arrived at our facility, he came to us unnamed, and his dedicated carer lovingly named him Pugsley.

Background:

  • Sire: San Padre
  • Dam: Marilouise
  • Last raced: February 2024

Current Status: Pugsley is currently settling in with one of our experienced carers and handlers who is conducting thorough health checks and behavioral assessments. After a period of neglect, he requires considerable attention and care to address his physical and emotional needs.

We’re taking our time to get to know Pugsley properly and ensure he receives everything he needs to recover and thrive. As we learn more about his personality, health status, and training history, we’ll provide updates on his progress.

Stay tuned as Pugsley’s journey with Project Hope Horse Welfare unfolds. This deserving boy has a bright future ahead of him.

How to lease a horse

We do not sell horses or adopt them out, they remain a Project Hope horse. This is of great benefit to the new owner and the welfare of the horse.
