Tapiki

Bay Thoroughbred Mare | 18 years old

Surrendered: End of September 2025

Tapiki came into Project Hope Horse Welfare’s care after being impounded by Hume Council. She and her three paddock companions were repeatedly escaping through fencing onto roadways, creating a dangerous situation. When council officers contacted the owner, they declined to reclaim the horses, revealing they had purchased all four for just $1 via Gumtree.

Racing Background:

  • Sire: Bradbury’s Luck (AUS)
  • Dam: Bayremah (NZ)
  • Race Record: 8 starts, $15,950 in prize money

    Current Status:

Tapiki is thriving in the care of one of our experienced handlers and has settled beautifully into her short-term care routine. She has received all necessary veterinary treatment, dental care, and hoof work, and is now comfortable and healthy.

After a period of significant neglect, Tapiki has proven herself to be a gentle soul who simply needs security and consistency. She’s learned to trust again and will be ready for her next chapter.

    What Tapiki Needs:

We are looking for a loving home where Tapiki can live safely with others of her own kind—a place where she can feel secure and never have to worry about where her next feed or attention is coming from. She deserves a family who will give her the peaceful, predictable life she’s missed for so long.

Stay tuned for updates as this beautiful mare begins her journey toward a brighter future.

    How to lease a horse

We do not sell horses or adopt them out, they remain a Project Hope horse. This is of great benefit to the new owner and the welfare of the horse.
